Reid: Month 18

Dear Reid,

You may very well 19-months old now but I still wanted to document some of the things that made you YOU between 15-18 months.

Anyway, I think this may be my favorite age yet! (Don't I always say this?) You are so much fun right now. You're still into everything and you practically climb the walls but you are exploring and learning... something new every day. It's exciting! Plus, you'll also stop more to give quick hugs or, at the very least, waller on the couch in my general direction. =) I love it.

You have really started to talk more. You're most recent favorite words have included "more", "daddy", "bye", and "puppy" but you say plenty of other things too.

I love hearing your sweet voice and seeing your big, toothy grin when you talk to me. You are ornery, Lord have mercy, you're ornery. BUT, you are also so sweet and loving. You're the perfect mix.

Life with you right now is fun, exhausting, trying, sweet, and just as it should be - a life I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I love you Reid!

Highlights:

I need to do a better job of tracking things as they happen instead of trying to remember back through 3+ months worth of stuff.

You walk and practically run everywhere you go. You do not like to be confined to a stroller (or anything else) for very long. You still kind of walk with your hands up by your chest.

You love climbing on things and thoroughly enjoy, much to my dismay, diving face-first off the couch over and over again.

Your laugh is loud... we hear it often. It is loud, unique, contagious, and pure joy.

You still love to eat. Goodness boy, you sure do. You'll eat anything and everything we sit in front of you. You're quick about it too. I'm thankful you're willing to try new things and that you're not as picky as me. I hope that lasts... at least in the long-run. For the most part, you now eat what we eat, when we eat it, and you are doing better about actually chewing things. ;) You get a lot of eggs, fruit, veggies, chicken, pasta, and lots of other things. I have yet to find something you don't like, these are just what you eat the most of out of convenience.

You still LOVE milk too. You must have it right when you wake up and you drink it up so dramatically. =)

You love your dino rocker and will just rock and rock and rock. You enjoy dancing and bobbing your head back and forth too.

Your most played with toys the past couple months have been the egg crate the Easter bunny brought you, Highlights books, and you recently started playing more with a puzzle. Couch pillows and tupperware are also high on that list. ;)

You still enjoy spending time with other friends and family members - something I am SO thankful for.

At your 18-month appt, you weighed 28 lbs and measured 32 inches long.

In addition to more talking, you also seem to really understand what we're telling you.

You picked up hitting. Lord help us. There was one night that was almost the death of me. That, thankfully, seems to be kind of moving its way back out again.

You still get time-outs when you do something we've repeatedly told you not to do (ie: hitting, standing on something you're not supposed to, etc...) We really don't have to do this all that often but you tend to go through little spurts of it.

Whichever one of us puts you to bed at night prays with you.

You've moved to one longer nap in the afternoon instead of two/day. Although, sometimes on weekends you need two.

You said goodbye to your paci at about 16.5 months. There was a week there that was pretty rough but you made it through. =)

You celebrated your second Easter with egg hunts, church, Easter baskets, and lots of quality time with family.

You went to the Wichita zoo for the first time.

We made a trip to Lyons, and then Topeka for Jack's baptism.

You now wear size 6 shoes, size 2T shirts (for the most part), 18-24mo or 2T shorts (depending how they fit your skinny little legs), and size 5 diapers (we just recently switched).
