Midweek Randoms/Catch Up

Whoa. We have lots of catching up to do folks. I've missed a few midweek random posts so I'm going to try and load this post full of the past month's activities. I won't do a play by play but I'll at least hit some major things.

First, after tons of thought, worry, and prayer, I applied for a new PR job. A job that would have required a move (not too far away, but a major adjustment none-the-less).There was around 75 people that applied, 5 of us were interviewed, and I believe I was a top runner but, ultimately, didn't get the job. I prayed that God would clearly open or clearly close a door and close it He did. =) Here's a couple crappy selfies from interview day. ;) This was me trying to get a second opinion on whether I looked ok. haha.

First time straightening my hair in months!
A couple weeks ago we went to church then enjoyed brunch as a family at Bricks. By the time we got home, Reid was tuckered out.

Also a couple weeks ago, we attended the retirement reception for a colleague. She's someone we really respect. She has pancreatic cancer and I think you probably already know I feel about that topic. =/ It was a great reception though with lots of good stories and hearty laughs.
I made this out of bountiful basket produce. Buttered fettuccine with sauteed mushrooms and kale (blach) alongside a salad. I'm trying here people.

I went to an old friend's baby shower. She's finally having that girl after a string of boys. =) The next day, I went on a shopping date with Kayla to buy spring clothes for our kiddos. We had a great time.
Oh goodness, I love this boy.
This month there's been times I really wish I could be closer to some important people in my life. Sometimes it seems hard to mourn and help out in bad times and celebrate in good times when there's distance involved. Sigh.

Last week was our Spring Break so we got a couple days off. Thursday, we went to the zoo. Here's Reid gearing up for the big day.
 We brought Sky along too.
We went in the morning and it was super chilly and windy. Also - hardly any animals were out and active. =( Fail.

We still had a good time hanging out together though and by the time we left it had warmed up a lot.
Reid even had hot little piggies that demanded to be free of socks and shoes.
He is such a busy, busy boy.
Our house is never short on shenanigans with these two. ;)
That evening we had Wii Night. It was fun and the kids were pretty good.
Love these photos I stole during nap time the next morning.

That evening we went to Wichita for a family session. We shot the couple's engagement session and wedding a few years ago. They are so nice. They now have a little girl who just turned one. =) After photos, we had a date night. We ate at Bella Luna (even enjoyed our food while it was still warm... mind blowing, ha!) and stopped by Home Depot before heading home. We had a great time!
 Ornery stinker.
Saturday, Dac and his dad worked to insulate our bathroom we've been remodeling for years. haha. We're getting closer! =) Anyway, while they did that, Val, Reid, and I went to Stillwater and ate at Joe's. It was Reid's first experience there.

 YUUUUM.

Of course he needed a new shirt. =)
Val also let me give her the tour of town and campus, so that was fun. =)

I washed and ironed our family room curtains over the weekend. Not my most favorite task.
 Breakfast!
More bountiful basket concoctions. I've been in a pasta mood lately. This is butternut squash mac-n-cheese
Reid loves to brush his teeth in the tub. =) He takes it very seriously.
Our Bible study on making love last is over now. We enjoyed it. I'm sure there's more to share but hey, this is a start. =)

Midweek Randoms

Thursday was Wii night so we had supper and watched SOA while the kids played. They are really starting to play together more now that Reid is a little older. They had a good time.
 They even shared snacks. =)
Saturday, after doing some house work, Reid and I went on a little shopping trip to Derby. Sunday, we went to church and I hung out with Sky for a while. Then, we were supposed to go visit my Grandma for a bit but Reid threw up his supper. He was totally happy and normal-acting after that though, and we knew he'd been getting two new teeth so we thought maybe that was the cause. Overnight, he thew up again.

I had meetings Monday so Dac stayed home with the little man.
This is totally out of order. It was taken Friday. When he was still very much himself. =)
This was yesterday...
Annnd today...
I stayed home with him today. He's been extra tired and lethargic. This makes me sad because it's SO not like him but it's also nice to have the extra cuddles. I called the doctor and was told just to let him rest and keep him hydrated. Check and check.
I started back on myfitnesspal.com last week. I'm off to a good start. My focus' are eating less crap and eating more good things. I'm trying to eat lots of things that will fill me up and not just low calorie foods.

Today's lunch. Turkey & cheese roll-up with grapes. And my good looking fuzzy buddy in the back. =)
Yesterday: cuties, hummus, and nut-thins. Boring? Yes. But it gets the job done.
Breakfast: 1/2 a banana and a scrambled egg.
I've also ate Kind bars and Luna bars for breakfasts/snacks as well as apples and almonds among other things. For supper we've had turkey chili, pork tacos, meatloaf muffins made with quinoa. I've also had candy, pop, and a real lack of veggies and exercise. Hey, baby steps. =)
In other news, operation get photos out in the house is moving right along. =)

In other, other news. I'm super behind on work projects. I've started watching Rush on Hulu. It's an Australian cop show. I kinda like it. Another show I like... Chicago PD. It's a spin-off of Chicago Fire, which I also love.

Midweek Randoms

Reid is a mess. A mess that loves peas. He gets more and more ornery every day so supper time is always interesting. ;)

Exhibit A
 Cue start of ornery grin

Last week we got a Bountiful basket but I still had a cabbage from the time before, so I threw together some bierocks. I just used canned biscuits since I was short on time but they were still pretty good.

We read this adorable book to Reid a couple times this past week. Perfect for the season. There's several "Bear" books so we'll have to add to our collection.

One of the add-on options for the baskets this week was a box of big honey crisp apples. I didn't buy it but my mom was kind enough to share some of hers. =)

We also got grapes (I tried to take a picture of what I did with the goods from the basket).

Reid has his first little birthday celebration at daycare this week. I took treats (graham cracker and frosting sandwiches...fancy, huh? ha!) I also took little scooby snack graham cracker sticks to dip in frosting. I thought they might be easier for the littlest kids but turns out they were pretty hard. Anyway, they sang happy birthday to him and I'm certain he had a good time. =)

Tuesday night, Sky came over to stay the night. We had roast, went on a kool-aid run =) and made brownies. She played video games on her computer and talked to her boyfriend, and we chatted and had a good time. I told my SIL that I'm way too young to have a teenager and way too old for slumber parties with one. ha!

She really is a cool kid and I'm glad she feels at home with us.

Wednesday, we got up and hung out for a while before I took her home. Then, I went out to help my grandma with some cleaning and baking. That evening, I made guacamole from the guac pack I got with my basket. I didn't have enough good tomatoes so it was a little lacking in that department. It was also a little too oniony but overall it was ok.

Then Val came over to help make favor bags for Reid's party (and watch Criminal Minds). We had fun and I was even able to sneak this picture of Reid sleeping. So sweet and I'm holding on tight to these next two days of baby-ness.

Today I'm making sweet potato casserole then we're headed to my grandma's for lunch then Terese's for lunch #2. Wish my belly luck. =) Happy Thanksgiving!!!
